NICU Hospital for my journeyOrlando Health Winnie Palmer Hospital for Women & Babies
My NICU Graduate's JourneyTré was born at just 29 weeks, weighing only 1 lb 5 oz. For most of my pregnancy, I was told he wouldn’t survive. He was diagnosed with SIUGR and was always a few weeks or more behind in his measurements. And then my water completely broke at 19 weeks. He grew in utero with almost no amniotic fluid, yet he arrived screaming with strong lungs and a will that stunned everyone.
In the NICU, he needed only bubble CPAP. He spent 88 days fighting through liver complications, learning to tolerate feeds, gaining weight, and even battling NEC. And after 88 long, emotional, miraculous days, he graduated from the NICU and finally came home.
He is our reminder that statistics aren’t destiny — strength is.
What makes you proud of your NICU graduate?Tré’s determination and strong will to survive have shaped everything about who he is today. After fighting through developmental delays from talking to walking he now exceeds every expectation I once held. Watching him grow, learn, and thrive has made me incredibly proud. He is living proof that resilience can bloom into brilliance.
