My NICU Graduate's Journey
Emma was born by scheduled cesarean at 39w3d weighing 7lb2oz following a perfect pregnancy. She was immediately taken to the NICU at Women and Infants. At 2 weeks she was transferred to Boston Children's NICU. She remained there until 3mos of age when she transferred to Hasbro. At 116 days old she finally came home! She survived heart and lung difficulties that could and should have cost her life. She had multiple surgeries and was diagnosed with a rare interstitial lung disease.

What makes you proud of your NICU graduate?
Emma faces every challenge head on. Since her discharge she has received 3 more diagnoses, one of which is rare and was only discovered the same year she was born. Emma is a fierce advocate for herself and will never shy away from educating others on what makes her unique. She wants to make the most of every experience and has never met a stranger because everyone is a friend in her eyes.
