My NICU Graduate's Journey
Xavier was born on May 7th, 2025 but was supposed to enter this world on June 26th, 2025. So he was 7 weeks early. Just in time for Mother’s Day and his dada’s birthday on May 17th! Very long and crazy story short; I gave birth within 27 insane and emotional minutes! He was tiny for his age and jaundice so had a month’s stay in the NICU. Born 4 lbs then went down a little, Xavier was a tiny but strong little one. When my son finally came out and I held him for the first time for a brief moment before they took him to the NICU, I said this is way better than a dog!” Mind you they gave me some laughing gas for the last big push. He was one of the NICU’s favorite and definitely a charmer from a young age. I was counting down the days til my baby boy got to come home. After finally being discharged from Children's Wisconsin in Neenah on June 9th, our lives forever changed in the best way possible.

What makes you proud of your NICU graduate?
Xavier went from a 4 lbs little newborn and made it through the finish line no matter how much his tiny body was going through. Seeing him change every day and grow bigger and stronger made me feel stronger as well. Not just as a new mom, but as Xavier Rory’s mama. Little did I know that tiny human being would end up being the reason I smile every morning I wake up.
