My NICU Graduate's JourneyThey were born at 26 weeks due to spontaneous labor. We were in the NICU for about 3 months. Both girls fought so hard and were so strong. Luckily they have no long term deficits other than autism. Arianna came home on oxygen for an additional 3 months. Grace luckily was able to be weaned off the oxygen before she was discharged. They both were good eaters when they got home as well so no feeding tubes when we came home either! We are truly blessed with these two little miracles. And we wouldn’t have made it through without st Vincent’s NICU team, they were truly a godsend to us!
What makes you proud of your NICU graduate? My twins Grace and Arianna are absolute fighters! No one would even know how premature they were looking at them! We are truly blessed in how resilient these two little girls are. They both have autism but that’s their only deficit from being premature. And they’re both flourishing with ABA and speech therapy. Arianna chats up a storm and sings all the time! My Grace can say some words as well but she’s a little more on the stubborn side. Both of them are so smart! They leave me speechless! :)
