My NICU Graduate's JourneyTanner has accomplished so much. He was born with bilateral hydronephrosis in both kidneys which led to renal dysplasia in the right kidney with minimal function and only 50% in his left kidney which has led to CKD Stage 3A. He had a vesicostomy placed at 3 days old to he can be able to urinate. He was diagnosed at 2 with urethral atresia which will lead to eventually needing a mitrofanoff and later in the future a kidney transplant.
What makes you proud of your NICU graduate?I am so proud of Tanner because despite his condition he does not let it bring him down. He is always so strong and brave and pushes himself. He has tried sports and he's very smart and loves to read. He turned a horrible situation into a better outlook on life and living life to his fullest potential.
