My NICU Graduate's Journey
My son was born 7weeks early due to severe preeclampsia. Some the time he took his first breath outside the womb he was a fighter and he did not want to be in the NICU. He was barely 24 years old and he had already pulled his NG tube out of his nose (even with being tightly swaddled). From then on he surpassed his daily, and weekly goals by the end of week 1 he was off of all machines but still had the NG tube. On mother's day 2020 I got to give him his first bottle feeding and he took off from there he was discharged after 1 month of being in the NICU for being a fighter and wanting to go home!! He is 6 now and you would never beleive he was a NICU baby.
