My NICU Graduate's Journey
Born at 26 weeks due to preeclampsia and Hellp syndrome Lily weighed 1lb 7ounces. She was intubated for a month in a half and then cpap and other forms of respiratory support followed. Lily BPD a PDA and ROP of her eyes. We were transferred back and forth between hospital for about a month for procedures. Lily still has BPD but is off oxygen support, her PDA is still slightly there, and the ROP is now gone. After 166 days in the NICU we graduated at 10lbs 10 ounces.

What makes you proud of your NICU graduate?
We were told that she would more than likely go home on oxygen and the ROP for her eyes would need surgery and she’d need a Gtube. Lily did not come home on oxygen or need surgery or a g tube. She has been a brave feisty little girl. She has her battle scars from all that she has gone through but it just shows how brave she was.
