NICU Hospital for my journeyOklahoma Children's Hospital
My NICU Graduate's JourneyAlessandra suffered trauma to her brain at birth. She needed several blood transfusions, as well as being put in a cooling chamber for 3 days. She fought so hard while in the NICU she only had a 50/50 chance and she MADE IT! Day after day we saw the tiniest of improvements but slowly but surely we made it to safety and finally home. After what seem like an eternity we saw our babygirl become a NICU graduate. It is the hardest thing as a parent to go through. Watching our babygirl all while a global pandemic was happening outside is something that I still think back and reflect on.
What makes you proud of your NICU graduate?Alessandra is the strongest person I have ever met. Not only did she beat the odds and survived… she thrived! Now here we are 5 years later and our NICU warrior suffers from epilepsy. That has not stopped her! Through every hurdle and challenge that has gotten in her way she has prevailed. We continue our journey after life in the NICU and she makes us proud EVERY SINGLE DAY. Words are not enough to describe the light that is our daughter. We love her so so much and she is so so strong. We will be with her every step of the way.
