NICU Hospital for my journeyGolisano’s Children’s Hospital (Strong Hospital)
My NICU Graduate's JourneyAfter years of trying to conceive, we finally found out we were having TWINS!! It was a tough pregnancy and then Lincoln decided he had had enough sharing of space and his placenta ruptured at 29 weeks. I was admitted to the hospital and since it was a “slow leak” they decided to have me stay in the hospital until they felt the twins could best survive outside the womb. They took 18 days to behave (for the most part-they HATED staying still for the NST’s). On December 18th, 2017, I was feeling terrible. My back hurt so bad and no one would take me seriously. The told me just to rest. After several hours of trying to rest but feeling like my insides were imploding, they decided to check me and I was 7cm dilated and the twins were ready to make their appearance. Funny enough, my husband had left to get some dinner and asked the nurses if he had enough time to go grab something from the hospital cafeteria. The told him we had hours before anything was to happen. Well after he’d been gone about 15 minutes, the twins played their first (of many) jokes by trying to come out without waiting for daddy to be there. He ended up making it just in time for Lincoln to be born. Tenleigh decided to take her sweet time and didn’t come out for 40 more minutes!!
What makes you proud of your NICU graduate? The twins with both in the NICU for over 6 weeks. Every time one would have a decline, the other would try to trump the first one. They kept going back and forth for weeks. Ever since, they have always had (friendly) competitions against each other…making life with twins extra lively.
