My NICU Graduate's JourneyPhilip has always been eager to experience the world around him. At 31 weeks and 6 days, he decided he was ready to make his arrival as Mommy developed preeclampsia. He had not been moving much in the womb, and it became clear that he was ready to enter the world sooner than expected.
On Tuesday morning, December 28th, at exactly 32 weeks, Philip was born via emergency C-section. Mommy was very sick, but Philip entered the world screaming, making sure everyone knew he had arrived. He weighed 3 pounds and 3 ounces and measured 14 inches long.
Because he was born premature, Philip spent time in the NICU to continue growing and allow his lungs to develop further. After 31 days of strength and progress, he was finally able to come home to Mommy and Daddy.
What makes you proud of your NICU graduate?Phillip has always made us proud. From the very beginning, he showed determination and strength while fighting his way home from the NICU. He amazed everyone by pulling off his own CPAP and nasal cannulas, almost as if he wanted to prove he could maintain his oxygen levels all by himself. From day one, Phillip has always found a way to shine and stand out.
Now, Phillip is about to complete his very first year of pre-K, where he has made many friends and learned so much. He knows his colors, his ABCs, and how to use the potty like a big boy. He loves reading books, drawing pictures, coloring, and painting. He is also enjoying his very first season of T-ball.
Phillip has never stopped amazing us with his determination, personality, and bright spirit. No matter what he sets his mind to, he gives it his all and continues to make us proud every single
