My NICU Graduate's JourneyWhen Teagan was born on November 16, 2007 at 3:14 PM Eastern standard time we didn’t think anything was wrong until I saw him. He was black and blue all over. I knew immediately that something was wrong. He was whisked to the Nicu after the first checkup through the night. He was born with 26,000 platelet count. We did not understand what NAIT was until we had genetic testing. Teagan was born with neo, NATO, allo immune immune thrombocytopenia.
We were blessed that he did not have to have any interventions, but he was monitored in the Nicu for one week. He was in B Bay and was the biggest baby there.
Teagan has gone from my fragile little baby boy to fierce goalkeeper who has competed in national tournaments, European Cups, and has made semi pro and pro teams before playing college soccer. He had about 30 offers to play college soccer and a few football offers too!
He is our middle child who brings laughter and joy to our family.
What makes you proud of your NICU graduate?Teagan has always made us proud. He is kind respectful and has devoted his life to becoming the best soccer goalie he can be. He is not afraid to try something new for the past two years. He has been his high schools punter and kicker for the football team. He is considerate and and treats everybody like they are his best friend in the most important person in the world. I believe that’s one of the reasons why he was voted homecoming prince in his junior year. Teagan is all about family, faith, and friendship. He looks forward to family dinner every Sunday and the leads our family in prayer. We are so blessed to have Teagan in our lives.
