Cat or kitten's story or bio
My husband and I went to Nine Lives, looking for a kitten (preferably a Siamese) that would be a good fit in our home where we had a VERY moody female tortie. We hoped a kitten might soften her, and bring out a natural maternal instinct. After explaining this to Dr Rudiger, she told us "A kitten won't help; torties can be [moody]." Instead, she took us to the kennel that housed at least a dozen tuxedos (they all looked the same), yet she knew exactly which one to hand us. She placed 7-month old "Toad" in my husband's arms, and he cuddled like a baby. The connection was instantaneous. So, instead of a Siamese kitten, we adopted teenaged Toad. We changed his name to Cooper, and he is an absolute love!
Oh, and Dr Rudiger could not have chosen a better companion for our bossy tortie! Cooper has a mellow, playful, loving personality. He has never shown aggression to our tortie's occasional hiss. Instead, he will amuse himself -- and us. He loves to Initiate a game of fetch with his toys and has a shoe fetish, often carrying my slippers from the bedroom to the family room. He prefers Uggs.
One of Cooper's favorite pastimes is bird-watching. He is quite clever and has learned how to maneuver the living room shutters to accommodate his passion.
