On August 9, 2018, we stumbled upon a Facebook post for an injured freeway kitten needing a foster home named Krissy. We brought this sweet, tiny and helpless kitten home to see if we could help make her as comfortable as possible during her recovery. Thankful and grateful to her rescuers that stopped and picked her up off the middle of 880 in Oakland and got her to Nine Lives Foundation.

Her pelvis was shattered and we were told she would have to have a further tail amuptation and possibly lose her left hind leg. Dr. Rudiger showed me her x-rays. I choked back the tears. Her pelvis was in a thousand tiny pieces. Nonetheless, "Krissy" came home with us.

But a miracle happened. Not only did she recover from her injuries, by the second vet check, she was strong enough to have her spay surgery and she no longer needed to have her tail or leg amputated.

Cosette (aka Krissy) is a fighter. She is strong and sweet. She won over the other three cats during her recovery so we decided to adopt her and make her a permanent part of the family. She now has 2 sisters and a brother cat that adore her.
