We all fell in love with Journey, a male grey tuxedo, in December 2015 when a 9Lives volunteer placed him in our arms. He is the most laid-back, loving kitty who probably thinks he is a dog. He greets me at the door every time, follows me from room to room, is excellent with children and strangers, chases after treats, and tolerates a leash (doesn’t walk far).

In 2018 our family thought he would like another feline companion. When I sat down again at 9Lives, I was approached by the skinniest tabby. Even staff was worried about him as he was barely 6lbs! We later observed after we took him home Stephen (now renamed Sydney) is a notorious slow eater. He’s a perfect gentlemen who lets others go before him and will happily settle for dry food.

When we first introduced the two, Sydney wouldn’t let Journey get within 2 feet without growling. He was nervous, always surveyed surroundings, and kept his distance. They even had a few tousles! Within a few weeks though, as he gained more weight and confidence Sydney, now over 10lbs, began to tolerate Journey and the two will look for each other if he isn’t there. This is a rare photo of them together in the early days. Being good siblings and not fighting. :)
