I was at a bird store in early July, 2009, looking for gray-striped sunflower seeds for my first parrot. I couldn't help looking around, since they had a number of birds there. It was during a heat advisory in Houston, and the premises had no climate control. I saw Buddy, wings outstretched and panting, obviously suffering. I had no choice but to rescue him by buying him.
