About

NOLA Lab Rescue is a 501c3 non-profit organization that advocates for the underdog while working with over-crowded shelters in Louisiana. We also help shelters in Kentucky and Ontario, Canada. We cherish the seniors who have been abandoned when they needed their families the most. We help the special needs dogs and believe they deserve a chance. And we work to save labs and lab mixes who have been abandoned and left to die in a shelter.

For our donors, your involvement makes a difference for each and every dog. They all deserve a loving family and we couldn't help them without you.

For our volunteers, we could NOT help any of them without you. Whether you can foster, transport, attend events - you are making a real difference in our dogs' lives.

People that work in rescue are often asked why they do it? Take a look at the dogs on this page - every one of them has a story. Some were dumped at shelters because they were "too much work" for the person who bought them. Some were abandoned when they got sick or old. Some we will never know the story – they were found wandering the streets – hungry, cold, sick. These are society's cast offs, left alone to die on the streets or to live out their final days on a cold concrete floor. This is why we do animal rescue. We look into the eyes of these poor creatures and we ask "how can we not try to help them!"

Louisiana statistics:
"Every year in Louisiana, 130,000 homeless pets enter our shelters. Each year, 92,000 of these animals are euthanized."

National statistics:
Only 1 out of 10 dogs born ever get a home. Only 1 out of 12 cats born ever find a home. 800 dogs & cats are killed each hour in the U.S, because there are not enough homes for them.
