Rules
Register & Submit entry:
- Contest runs from Saturday, August 1, 2020, at 6:00 AM (PDT) and runs through Monday, September 14, 2020, at 10:00 PM (PDT).
- Each entry is a $10 tax-deductible donation. Multiple entries are encouraged.
- Winners will be announced via Facebook Tuesday, September 15, 2020, at noon (PDT). Judges' choice will be announced by Friday, September 25, 2020, at noon (PDT).
- Primary Calendar Contest – ALL entries compete to be the main photo for each month in the 2021 calendar.
- Best In Class Contest (subcategory) – When you submit a photo, you will be required to pick a subcategory for your photo. You can select one, and only one Best In Class category. The Best In Class categories are:
- Wild Card
- Best Action Shot
- Best Hiking Shot
- Best Senior Shot
- Funniest/Best Comedic Shot
- Most Annoyed
- Best Puppy Shot
- Goofiest Face
- Best Napping Shot
- Best Use Of A Prop or Food
- Best Caught In The Act Shot
- Best Wardrobe or Costume
- Primary calendar contest - One dog cannot win more than 1 of the top 12 place finishes/featured months. If a dog with multiple photo entries has more than one of the top 12 most voted photos, the photo with the highest number of votes will be selected for a featured month. The photo/dog with the next highest number of votes will then move up a spot in the placing accordingly.
- Best in Class subcategory contest - Photos that win 1 of the top 12 finishes/featured months will not be eligible to win the Best In Class category that they are entered in. Therefore, the photo with the next highest number of votes that is not one of the top 12, will then move up a spot(s) in the placing for that Best in Class category
- Best in Class leaderboards – Please note that the leaderboards DO NOT take into consideration the leader board for the Primary Contest. Take this into account when viewing these leader boards. I.e., If photos currently in 1st & 5th place in the Primary Contest are both entries in the Best Napping Shot subcategory, they are not eligible to win this subcategory, as they are currently in a position to win in the primary contest. Therefore, the photo that is currently sitting in the 3rd place will then be considered the leader for the winner of the Best Napping Shot Category.
- Reserve A Day box photo – $15 reserves a date box photo (dates are first come first served).
- Calendars are available for pre-order for $20.00 (+$5.00 Shipping)
- Mini-Contests - The photo with the most votes cast during that particular week wins the mini-contest, not necessarily the overall contest leader at the end of that week. If the same photo receives the most votes in multiple weeks, the second most votes that week will be the mini-contest winner.
- Weekly mini-contests run Saturday - Friday
- Week 1: 08/01/20 6:00 AM (PDT) – 08/07/20 11:59 PM (PDT)
- Week 2: 08/08/20 12:00 AM (PDT) – 08/14/20 11:59 PM (PDT)
- Week 3: 08/15/20 12:00 PM (PDT) – 08/21/20 11:59 PM (PDT)
- Week 4: 08/22/20 12:00 PM (PDT) – 08/28/20 11:59 PM (PDT)
- Week 5: 08/29/20 12:00 PM (PDT) – 09/04/20 11:59 PM (PDT)
- Week 6: 09/05/20 12:00 PM (PDT) – 09/14/20 10:00 PM (PDT)
- All donations are non-refundable.
- NorCal GSP Rescue reserves the right to modify or clarify any of the contest rules during the term of the contest without advance notice.

Voting:
- Votes are a $1 donation. The number of votes is equivalent to the dollars donated. A minimum $5 donation is required. You can use your votes on as many different photos as you want, whether it be assigning all five (5) votes ($5) to one (1) photo or spreading your donation across several photos or primary and subcategories.
- Your vote (donation) is tax-deductible.
- If you submit a photo, you can share links to your family and friends to encourage voting.
Photo submission requirements:
- Photo contest is open to everyone.
- Photos of ANY GSP or GSP Mix are welcome. They do NOT need to be affiliated with NorCal GSP Rescue.
- Photos may contain more than one pet.
- Dogs only in the photos, no humans, please.
- All photos must be uploaded; we cannot accept printed photos.
- Only digital photographs will be accepted. Please no graphics, illustrations or text added.
- Computer generated images will not be accepted.
- Photos need to be clear and require a minimum 300 DPI resolution to allow for enlarging.
- Tip: If using a camera phone, use HDR mode. If using a digital camera, use a "fine" resolution setting.
- All photos must be uploaded in TIF, JPEG or RAW format only.
- Photographs may be color, black and white, or sepia-toned.
- Photos with dogs wearing choke, prong, or shock collars will not be accepted.
- Photos with red eyes or glowing eyes will not be accepted.
- Digital effects other than typical cleanup, lightening, cropping, etc. will not be accepted.
- Submitted photographs become the property of NorCal GSP Rescue. We reserve the right to crop, resize, or edit a photo if necessary.
- All submitted photos may be shared on the various NorCal GSP Rescue media platforms, including but not limited to our webpage, Facebook and Instagram.
- All entries must be the original work of the entrant. You must own the copyright to the photograph. No professional or copyrighted photos.
- NorCal GSP Rescue has final approval of all photos submitted to our website and/or calendar and reserves the right to decline publication of any photography.
- Photo submission must include:
- Name of Dog(s)
- Owner's Name
- Owner's Email Address
- City and State
- A short paragraph to tell voters something fun or interesting about the dog(s) in the photo. Is this a NorCal GSP Rescue dog? Estimated or actual age? How long have they have been part of your family? Any extra fun or special information you'd like included in the calendar if your photo wins.
