Story behind your photoThere are a lot of horrible things about COVID-19, but Buddy was the best thing that came out of it for us. We adopted him from Northeast Animal Shelter in December 2020. He is such an anxious dog but also amazingly resilient. When we first got him, he refused to walk beyond our block after the first week. It felt like forever before we finally got him seriously walking again. He’s a big pack animal, so we got in the habit of walking him together in the mornings. I thought we’d never get him to walk somewhere without the both of us - but then he did. He is the most carefree when sniffing at things in wooded settings. This photo is of Buddy on his first off leash walk. Buddy is all the animals. We call him the Buddy the Foxy Bunny, Buddy the cow, Buddy the deer, Buddy the fraidy cat, Buddy bear, Buddy boo… and beyond. He’s close to turning an estimated 10 years now, but that’s ok because I keep saying he’s going to live until he’s 18… or 28. I never knew I could love an animal so much. I have an infant now, but I’ll always say Buddy’s my first baby.
