Pet's Story
My husband and I adopted Amstel, a Lab/Hound Mix, from NEAS in November of 2012. He was 12 weeks old and came from the Virginia Humane Society.

Amstel is highly energetic, playful, and loves to hear himself bark. He enjoys his time spent playing with other dogs at the dog park or at daycare. At home his favorite pastime is burying bones and toys in the backyard to save for later.

One day when he was still very young I brought him to the preschool I worked at to introduce him to the kids. A couple weeks later, one boy in my class asked, "Miss Megan, when is Hamstel gonna come visit again?" So from then on his official nicknames became Ham, Hammie, and Hambone. My parents and the daycare he went to started calling him "Ham" as well. Last Halloween we came up with the idea to make him a costume to look like a spiral wrapped ham-- complete with a packet of glaze attached!
