Walter found his way to NRGRR after his owners of 9 years surrendered him to Wake County Animal Center. Walter was our first foster with NRGRR after volunteering with the rescue for many years. My wife and I look back and laugh at the initial email I had forwarded to her from NRGRR seeking a foster for Walter which included the words "Obviously would not be a permanent doggo for us". I vividly remember laying on the living room floor with Walter his first night in our house. Walter had gone through a lot of stops in a short time for a then 13-year-old but as I was chatting with my wife while petting Walter, he put his paw over one of my arms & instantly, also touched my heart. It was only a matter of a couple days before my wife and I had the conversation that we wanted to be Walter's final home and family. We love our sweet boy so very much and can't believe we've had him for almost a year
