Pet's Age? (We think 16)
Pet's Story or BioWe call Minnie Benjamina Button, since she seems to be aging backwards. We met her six years ago, six months after losing our beloved rescue Mojo. Minnie, then named “Moose” by the man who had found her wandering just a week before, found herself in temporary lodgings with her “foster dad,” who provided pony rides at a state fair. He said he couldn’t keep her because he had horses and dogs of his own, but he wanted this spunky little senior to have a good end to her life. We arranged to meet in London Ontario just two weeks later (he had to have her checked by a vet before crossing the border), and, after a tearful exchange (hard to see a grown man cry!) we took this dog, then determined to be 10 or 11, home to spoil.
After living with us for a while, this arthritic old gal had to have eight teeth removed. It ended up being the best thing that ever happened to her. The arthritis symptoms subsided and Minnie had a new lease on life (not to mention a permanently derpy tongue which her teeth no longer held in). She has continued to appear to get younger, though the vet says she could not possibly be any younger than 16. We will take her as long as she’ll have us!
