You have to admit, I am quite the handsome fella, but that wasn’t always the case.

You see, four years of my life were spent on the streets of Alexandria, Egypt. While our basic instinct is to survive, it is not enough to thrive. These were hard times with little food; nowhere to call home. It seemed there was no freedom from the desperation and helplessness of living alone and in fear of my very existence.

Then one day I found myself in the arms of an angel and spirited away to a rescue centre. Within the comfort and safety of this haven, I grew stronger and before long it was time to give back. I took a fragile street kitten under my wing, soothed her fears and assured her of a brighter future. Once fit to travel, we were issued passports and are now Canadian kittizens and so lucky to have been adopted together.

It’s been a long journey, and though this story took place half way across the world, suffering knows no boundaries. There are thousands of devastating stories right here in our own community.

Wishing upon a shooting star will not create new beginnings. Second chances come with a price tag and every vote count$. So let’s put our best paw forward –– let’s vote until we drop!
