Pet's Story or BioRalphie was admitted to Hospital by OMHS officers one late afternoon, around February or March 2016, for thermal burns. I remember the first time meeting him when I worked as an RVT at Oakville Animal Clinic. He was calmly laid in a right lateral position and purring away, while Dr. Baird performed her physical exam and began clipping away some of his fur to inspect his wounds. Although he smelt of burnt hair, you could say it was love at first sight. As Ralphie's stay with us lasted up to 4 months throughout his recovery, our bond began to grow.
The recovery process was handled like a champ. At first each day a new area of burnt flesh would reveal itself and the skin sloughed away. As time went on, wound became scar; the tail and feet bandages came off, and the sharp smell of cothivet diminished from the air.
Ralphie has been living a happy, healthy, and spoiled indoor life with me, my fiancé, and his little bro Forrest, for about 6 years now. He is currently a patient at MOVEH, seeing internal medicine (IBD) and oncology (SCL). He is doing fantastic on his treatments, loves to eat his daily Z/D with fortiflora +/- dasuquin (#notanadd), and his current hobbies include napping 21+ hours a day, playing with his rainbow, purring constantly, and is currently employed as a professor with a doctorate in comfy-ness. He makes $100 000.00/yr.
