About Us

Since 1983, the Ohio Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (Ohio SPCA) has been a voice for animals. Serving as a protective umbrella for thousands of animals through education of animal caretakers and direct rescue and rehabilitation. From a large-scale rescue involving hundreds of animals to a single horse starving in a pasture, members of the Ohio SPCA Response Team have their boots on the ground. The Ohio SPCA cares for over 350 animals daily which include dogs, cats, horses, and farm animals. Our wide range of services and programs include the prevention of animal cruelty and neglect, veterinary care, sheltering and adoptions, and assisting people in crisis with keeping their animals.

The Ohio SPCA is well-known for our work in successfully ending the use of guns, homemade gas boxes, and gas chambers throughout Ohio. Our county outreach has also resulted in extended shelter hours, better cleaning methods, volunteer groups, and spay/neuter programs.

Please visit ohiospca.org for more information about our services and the impact made possible by your support.

"We dream of a day when cruelty to animals can be reduced to the point of elimination. The OHIO SPCA strives to bring change and reform in order to create a more progressive society in which uncivilized behavior does not exist. People should not only show compassion to one another, but they must extend it to all living creatures."
