Dayna’s story began on the streets of Greenville, Mississippi, where she was found pregnant, sick, and barely surviving. She had heartworm and liver failure from drinking contaminated runoff. Amy, who runs Mutt Madness in the MS Delta in Greenville, searched for Dayna for a long time before finally trapping her and bringing her to safety. Amy fostered her for two and a half years, helping her through heartworm treatment and raising her puppies until she was finally healthy.
Dayna eventually made her way north through Mary’s Dogs in Northwood, New Hampshire, which partnered with Mutt Madness to help her find a home. The same day we had to say goodbye to our sweet Benny and put him to sleep, I found Dayna on Petfinder while trying to soothe my broken heart. Three weeks after we lost Ben, we welcomed Dayna into our lives.
Dayna has now been with us nearly four years. She is the queen of this home—she absolutely runs the show. She is the most loving dog I have known in my 46 years on this earth. Dayna didn’t just find a home here. She rescued me. She is my soul.
