Story of Unconditional Love
When I very first saw Gumdrop online, I felt a strong pull towards her. There was just something special about her, I could see that before I even met her. So when she was at an OPH adoption event, I made sure to attend that event. I brought my other OPH dog, Millie, with me, so I could see if they liked each other. Millie was rescued from a dog hoarding situation, and still has a lot of anxiety and social issues. It was important that they get along, as part of the reason I wanted another dog was for Millie. I essentially needed another dog to teach Millie how to dog. And to comfort her when I couldn't.

The meeting went better than anyone could have expected. I held Millie, and an OPH volunteer held Gumdrop. Completely out of character for my little scaredy dog, she reached one arm out and touched Gumdrop's shoulder. She left it there for almost a full minute, while I stood there in awe of my brave pup. And then it got even better - Gumdrop reached out her arm, and draped it across Millie's extended arm, resting her paw on Millie's shoulder. They held themselves like that for the longest time.

They chose each other. And they have never looked back. They've been great companions now for over a year.
