Your Pet's Story or BioWe adopted Lily from the Humane Society 2 years ago after she was hit by a car and her front leg was amputated. We were worried about her mobility with only 3 legs, but it turns out we brought home the fastest dog at the dog park! No amount of fetch, swimming, hunting, or trail walks could tire this little husky mix out and we couldn't have been happier with our new family member. Unfortunately she was actually too fast - last year she collided with another dog while running on a pack walk causing rear paralysis. That didn't stop our sweet Lily though - she did months of rehab on the underwater treadmill to keep her legs strong and learned how to pull herself around the house when she wanted to go somewhere. She never once felt sorry for herself and continues to be the happiest, most energetic dog in the neighbourhood. She still loves hunting and trail walks (now in her custom wheelchair) and we're looking forward to teaching her how to swim again this summer. The picture above was taken at the Wiggle Waggle Walk-a-Thon last year after her 1 km race. She is a true inspiration to us and we couldn't be luckier to have her in our family.
