George came into his family’s lives as an unofficial rescue-kitten in September, 2021. A product of a domestic outdoor mother and a transient, feral father, George’s personality is that of an affectionate deviant; one who refuses to be confined to his indoor surrounding, yet refuses to forgo the creature comforts that go along with it. As a result, George is known throughout the neighbourhood as playful and approachable, open to pets and cuddles from strangers, while also pretending to be territorial. During Covid, George would accompany his family on walks when social-distancing was enforced, with neighbours often saying hello to the family and to George. When his parents work from home, it is not uncommon for George to make an appearance during video calls, insisting that “now” is the time for cuddles or snacks. As George ages, he is becoming younger, regressing to a more playful, kitten-like demeanour, finding hours of enjoyment in a random twist-tie that is better than any expensive cat-toy one could ever buy him. George is also a family cat - he does not enjoy being out of the action, sitting close by when his family has dinner or spends time in the backyard. And he is smart, often coming when called and leaving when told to get out of the way. It’s safe to say that adopting George on that grey November day in 2021 was one of the happiest days for George’s family as he is, without hesitation, the love of their lives - even if he finds them annoying.
