Toffee was adopted in 2014 from the local animal shelter as an owner surrender due to landlord issues. She was clearly a loved and pampered girl who made herself right at home from the start. A year later, a friend called to say she’d just met Toffee’s twin at the same shelter. I went to investigate the next day, took one look at him and said to myself, “Well, I guess I’ve got 2 Setters now.” Nigel came home with me that week. He was a transfer from a high kill shelter in a rural county and it was clear he’d been kennel raised. He didn’t understand living inside at first, but he and Toffee bonded almost immediately and she showed him the ropes. He’s a kind, gentle soul and she’s a bossy diva. They complete each other, and our family.
