Bird(s)' Story
This photo captures a happy moment when two very sick childhood sweethearts felt well enough to enjoy a good day together.
The Melons, King pigeons bred for meat & only 4 weeks old when they were purchased from a live poultry market, were then inhumanely (misguidedly) "released" to try & survive with a flock of wild pigeons. Domestic pigeons have no survival skills & they were very lucky to be rescued before they were killed by predators. They were very sick & frail & even with a whole team of loving supporters, care-givers & expert avian vet care, only Cantaloupe (the dyed-pink-by-the-poultry-seller one) still survives. All the Melons, Watermelon, Honey Dew (not pictured) & Cantaloupe, live in our hearts. We'll always remember these incredibly sweet, brave baby pigeons with love.
