Bird(s)' Story
Cantaloupe is a survivor of the squab industry--a king pigeon bred for meat who was most likely bought and released. Lacking the skills to survive in the wild, he and two other kings were found on the streets of San Francisco, dehydrated and very sick. Cantaloupe was the sole survivor. An early battle with PMV left him with a bit of a head tilt and makes it a little hard for him to preen all his feathers. But we are happy to help him with that and he does a very endearing "air preen" while we do it! Cantaloupe has enhanced our lives in so many ways and makes us smile every single day.
