Bird(s)' Story
My husband, Steve, and I are Caltrans Adopt-A-Highway volunteers for approximately 12 miles of the I-780 freeway. This pigeon was found with an illegal dump off the freeway. She self-rescued by refusing to come out from under Steve's car. She is now our "Glory." We have adopted another, a beautiful King, named Cy, and while it doesn't appear they will "marry," I am hopeful they both will find their true loves in the aviary we are building in the back yard for more rescues and foster pigeons. Glory may have rescued herself, but she opened our hearts and minds to these amazing creatures.
