We had to say goodbye to Ajax in 2022. So many people miss this mighty king pigeon. Rescued in Alameda, CA in 2014, she single-wingedly inspired the creation of Palomacy's beautiful rescue aviary at Ploughshares Nursery. We were fortunate to bring her home to live with us for the last nine months of her life. I wasn't ready to let her go, so I made this memorial portrait, giving her a magic red boot for her twisted right foot. I haven't stopped making pigeon portraits since. Ajax inspired!
