Toast (left) and her late wife Marmalade are a pair of diamond dove hens whose incredible bond showed me just how much compassion these birds are capable of. They spent every waking moment grooming each other, cuddling in their nest, cooing quietly between themselves and even though they had their disagreements, they clearly cared for one another. We miss sweet Marmalade dearly, but we’ll treasure the cute, funny and tender moments these two shared forever!
