Squish was picked up as a stray and ended up at the Palmdale shelter in October 2019. Not long after, my neighbors adopted him. Unfortunately they were unable to keep him. A friend of mine said she would take him and find him a home if I took him. So I did in February 2020. Then she said she couldn't take him. So I ended up keeping him until I could find him a home. I had three very senior dogs at this time. One week after Squish showed up, Jäger, my best friend black lab died. I tried to find Squish a person but nothing worked out. Eventually I decided that he would stay with me. In July, 2020, my senior fluffy shepherd mix, Logan passed. Then in October of 2021, our senior beagle, Alan, Squish's best friend, died. Squish clearly missed Alan but we couldn't get Squish a new friend because Squish does not like other dogs. Squish is now an only child. Squish also suffer from allergies which causes very painful interdigital cysts on his paws. He ended having surgery to remove cysts that did not heal. And now he wears shoes at all times when we're outside as these prevent more cysts. We also clean our floors with vinegar and vacuum regularly so he can walk barefoot in the house. Squish is a bit high maintenance but I love him unconditionally and I would do anything to keep him happy.
