That Doggie in the Window

Once upon a time, there was a tiny puppy named RIT: short for Rapid Intervention Team. From the moment he opened his eyes, Rit had a spark of courage that couldn’t be contained in such a small body. He grew quickly, not just in size but in heart, becoming a true hero. Rit dedicated his life to helping others, always ready to leap into action when someone was in need, most often for his mom, Christa. Though his paws have since left this world, his spirit still runs beside those he loved, a loyal guardian watching from beyond.

After Rit came two little brothers, Niko and Bruno; mischievous, joyful, and full of life. They play for hours on end, tumbling and chasing each other until they collapse in a heap of wagging tails and happy sighs. Their laughter fills the space Rit once guarded, a reminder that love never really leaves, it just changes shape.

One sunny afternoon, Amanda, their dog mom, aunt, and photographer, was tidying up her studio when she noticed an old window frame she’d been saving for a future project. She had screwed supports on the sides, planning to use it for creative portraits someday. But when she looked up and saw Niko, Rit, and Bruno peeking through it, something magical happened. The scene instantly brought to mind the old tune, “How Much Is That Doggie in the Window?”

Without a second thought, Amanda dashed inside, grabbed her camera, and hurried back out. With a stick clenched between her teeth to get their attention, she called out for the pups to stay. For one perfect moment, they did; ears perked, eyes bright, framed perfectly in the weathered wood.
