Found injured and alone by an Animal Control Officer, Novella arrived at the shelter carrying more than her share of bad luck. She kept getting sick, a foster plea went out, and that’s when her next chapter began. Just days ago, she bravely said goodbye to a damaged leg and stepped into her new role as a certified Tripawd.

And honestly? She makes three legs look like an upgrade.

Novella is what would happen if a velvet sofa came to life, grew three paws, and learned how to smile. She’s impossibly soft, endlessly sweet, and has never met a person she didn’t want to love. Her tail still wags, her spirit still shines, and she approaches every day like it’s a happy ending waiting to happen.

Some dogs are resilient. Some dogs are lovable. Novella somehow manages to be both while looking adorable doing it.

If Novella were celebrating PAWS Atlanta's 60th anniversary, she'd be the guest of honor!

She'd arrive wearing a sparkly anniversary bandana and immediately get to work as the official Welcome Committee, handing out kisses, accepting compliments, and making sure nobody left without petting her at least once. After all, she's a firm believer that every celebration is better with a little extra love.

When someone asked why she was so excited, Novella would tell them her story. She was found injured and alone, and things didn't get much easier when she arrived at the shelter. She kept getting sick, and a foster plea went out. That's when her life changed. She found a safe place to heal, and just recently, she bravely underwent surgery to remove a damaged leg.

Now living her best Tripawd life, Novella is proof that second chances work.

She'd spend the evening showing off her three-legged zoomies, posing for photos, and reminding everyone that resilience can come wrapped in the softest velvet fur and the sweetest smile you've ever seen.

She'd make a simple speech: "Sixty years of second chances? That's my favorite kind of story. I got one, and now I'm living my best life. Here's to 60 years of helping dogs like me find the happy endings we deserve, and to many more years of treats, belly rubs, and families finding their perfect match."
