A little about me...
Cricket started out as a foster of mine through Paws Crossed last March after she was discovered under a porch. Like many orphaned kittens, the start of her life was tumultuous. Her sister suffered a medical emergency soon after being found, and her brother passed away 10 days later. Cricket was initially strong and steady, but rapidly took a downhill turn. She stopped growing and weighed a measly half-pound for weeks. She developed a mysterious rash and ear infections. Her right ear completely stopped growing. She was diagnosed with juvenile cataracts. Her many vets could not figure out the cause of her ailments and did not think she would survive. One vet described her as the “Charlie Brown Christmas tree of cats”. But we refused to give up. Her fighting spirit and enormous appetite kept her alive, and we did everything we could to maintain stubborn hope and to support her however she needed. I secretly promised her if she could pull through, she could stay forever. After months of recovery and care, I kept my promise and officially adopted her. She is now strong and happy – though she is still a petite little lady! – and she helps pay it forward by raising many more foster kittens to adoption age. I consider myself so tremendously lucky to be her mom.
