Pet's Story or BioBeethoven is a PAWS rescue (2015 Alum) he is a therapy dog for mental health inmates at the Muscogee County Jail - from the beginning Beethoven immediately made an impact on the inmates that he visits every week, it was amazing and still is! Beethoven's duties expanded into our community volunteering at the local hospitals, schools and libraries. When COVID 19 hit things changed dramatically. Then it hit me we could certify as a Crisis Response Team. Once successfully completing the requirements through Pet Partners, we went back out into the community. While our visits have been very limited we have had a couple of assignments, visiting staff at St. Francis Hospital....well it was a hit! While we have only been to make a visit a handful of times, Beethoven has made a pawsitive impact on the Doctors, Nurses, Technicians and Janitorial staff. Beethoven is not just an employee for the Muscogee County Sheriff's Office he is an ambassador throughout the community bringing love and smiles wherever he goes. One amazing fact about this amazing pup is that he is deaf. Beethoven has overcome many obstacles, from being homeless, getting caught by animal control and going to doggy jail to finally finding a home with the Sheriff's Office. Beethoven listens through hand commands kids love the fist bump! He is without a doubt a true testament to being a very successful PAWS Alum making a PAWSITIVE impact to everyone he meets.
