About a year and a half ago, a friend's brother-in law decided that when his dog had puppies, he wanted me to have one to occupy my time and mind. A couple of months later, I went to choose my puppy. They had just opened their eyes. I had been considering names that were soft and easy like Layla or Lola. When that puppy looked at me with her beautiful brown eyes, I immediately knew she was Mi Chicka(my girl). Five weeks later she came home, and my time and mind have been thoroughly occupied. Chicka looks forward to evening walks at the lake and weekends at camp on the river. Water holds great fascination for her. Her face lights up when I look at the water hose. When I pick it up and turn on the water---let the games begin. Chicka also enjoys retrieving tennis balls, ropes, and almost anything else her humans throw. She has recently begun to enjoy the drag races a great deal. Most mornings, Chicka goes to the Huddle House. She practices patience while I get coffee. Her reward for being sweet is a little bacon. Much like I reward Chicka for certain behaviors with bacon, she rewards me. In my opinion, I am getting the best end in this arrangement. My reward is absolute,unconditional love and loyalty. I can't believe all I have to do to get it is be me. That is what makes her Mi Chicka Perfecta!
