After my black lab died at the age of 16 1/2, I started visiting the shelter. Although there were many black labs, they all made me think of Belle. On one of my visits, the attendant told me that a dog (Judge) had just been surrendered and it would be a good fit for me. Judge's owner could not keep him due to his separation anxiety. As soon as he jumped in the truck, I knew we would be buddies. He has had serious separation anxiety issues however, when I finally found a kennel that would hold him safely while I was at work and a thunder shirt when it stormed, he became my best friend! Many people stop and ask me about him when we are out together and would like to have a dog just like Judge. I always tell them to check with the shelter as they always have great dogs. For Christmas, I was given a DNA kit for him and found out he is mostly German Shepherd but also part English spaniel, which would explain his docile and sweet nature. For anyone who is looking for a buddy, I would recommend checking with your local shelter, because you may find a best friend.
