Pepper was trained as a service dog and donated to her handler, Abby, to work as a courthouse facility dog in the District of Columbia criminal justice system. She provides emotional support and comfort to victims of violent crimes, youth in the treatment courts and to anyone else who may need her. She was chosen for the Good Samaritan award in April by the Department of Justice for her invaluable assistance in a 16-victim date rape case. Over the years, she has participated in many PAL visits.
