"Nela" and "Mister Blue" are both purebred Pekingese, both adopted through shelter/rescues. After bringing Nela home, she and Mister Blue have been best friends and playmates and have been my constant companions. I am single with no human children and have absolutely been in love with my furry kids. They have "saved" me a million times over in the 13 years we've been together, although many see me as the one who "saved" them. I'm a firm believer in the therapeutic impact dogs can have on humans due to the amazing unconditional love, devotion, affection, companionship, and the ability to erase loneliness in their humans. My "Nela-bug" left us in February 2014 to go to the Rainbow Bridge and left a painful void in our little family. She was the funny/silly one and Mister Blue was the cranky one in his old age. They were a perfect pair. Mister Blue bears witness to my grief and comforts me with his love and kisses. Everyone who knows me is aware that without my dogs, I am nothing. In a world where humans cause pain and suffering everywhere, I find light, joy, and hope when I look into the eyes of my dogs. I have been a rescue volunteer and animal advocate for 13 years and will never stop saying that "I like dogs much more than humans" on most days. My dogs are my co-pilots, my companions, my counselors, and I am so grateful for their presence in my life.
