Shy was my first dog ever. I got her on March 15, 2021, from the local shelter in Abilene, Texas. She trained and served as my PTSD assistance service dog and is quite literally the reason I am here today. She made it possible for me to hold a job and function day to day. Shy would wake me up from nightmares and flashbacks, ground me during disassociative episodes, and interrupt self harming behaviors. She had to be euthanaized humanely three years later to the day, due to aggressive cancer.
