Founded in 1952, Pet Haven is proud to be Minnesota's oldest foster-based animal rescue. Pet Haven improves the lives of pets and the people who love them by rescuing, rehabilitating and rehoming dogs and cats; reducing pet overpopulation by supporting spay and neuter efforts; and providing resources to people to help strengthen the animal-human bond.

• Spay/Neuter Initiative. Program: Providing support to end pet overpopulation in Minnesota by awarding money to other organizations to support spay/neuter initiatives.
• Owner Surrender: Providing a safe haven for pet owners.
• Foster: Committed to finding forever homes for cats and dogs.
• Phoenix Fund for Special Needs: Providing veterinary care for animals in need of healing.

We help dogs and cats find homes with loving families through foster-based care. Every dog and cat is placed with a foster family until they find their forever families. We provide all of their basic needs including proper food, veterinary care, behavior training, and supplies.

Through in-home fostering, we learn about each animal's temperament, personality, likes/dislikes, and medical needs. With this first-hand information, we can find the right family for each dog and cat.

Our volunteers also educate the public on responsible companion animal care, and represent respect for animals at all times. Whether we're working with prospective new families, meeting people at public events, or socializing with friends and family, we encourage others to view and treat their pets as members of the family. We are their guardians, and they depend on us for companionship and care.

• We spay/neuter prior to adoption.
• We microchip all our Pet Haven pets and remain as a secondary contact.
• We make sure all pets are up to date on required vaccinations before adoption.
• We test for Heartworm and Lymes disease in all our dogs and are transparent with adopters about the results and treatment.
• We test for FeLV/FIV and are transparent with adopters about the results. We believe that cats who test positive still deserve a chance at a quality home.
• We do not euthanize animals unless they have an untreatable health or behavioral condition that denies them an acceptable quality of life or makes them a serious threat to people, other animals, or themselves.
