Rules

Eligibility

Entrants must be a Minnesota resident and over the age of 18 at the time of entry.
Entry fee is $5 per photo. You may enter as many photos as you want but you must pay the entry fee for each photo entered. Each photo may only have one pet in it. You must submit a different entry for each pet.
Photos must be of dogs or cats only; people are not allowed in the photo. All animals must be depicted in a humane and dignified manner. Any photo that Pet Haven deems to be inappropriate or objectionable or that does not comply with rules will be removed from the contest.
Professional photos will not be accepted.

Entering a Photo

Entry period is from Wednesday, 08/31/2022 at 10:00 AM through Saturday, 9/24/2022 at 10:00 PM.
Photo entries must be no smaller than 1575 pixels x 2100 pixels, in RGB, .jpg, or .eps format. Photos must be high resolution for printing purposes. If you are taking photos with your phone, please be sure to capture your image at the highest possible setting in order to meet resolution criteria.
Simple photo editing is allowed (cropping, brightness, hue enhancements, etc.) but no multilayered filters and effects.
Current Pet Haven staff and board members may enter, but will not be eligible for prizes.
By entering a photo, you warrant that you have the right to use the photo and the entry does not infringe the intellectual property rights of any third party or violate the privacy rights of a third party.
You retain ownership of the photo(s) that you enter. By entering, you grant Pet Haven a non-exclusive, universal, perpetual, sublicensable, and irrevocable license to use the photo(s) you submit for Pet Haven's marketing, promotional and fundraising purposes, including in email newsletters, printed materials, and online. You further grant Pet Haven the right to use your entry photo(s) and name in the 2023 Pet Haven Pin-Ups calendar and to publish your name in a list of winners.
Pet Haven reserves the right to remove or disqualify any photo entered in the contest for any reason. We will notify you if we remove or disqualify your photo and refund your entry fee if desired.
By entering, I represent and warrant that my photo is my own fully original creation, and the photo does not and will not infringe or violate the rights of any third parties, including intellectual property and privacy rights. By entering, I give Pet Haven permission to use my entry for fundraising and promotional purposes, with appropriate credit.

ALL PHOTOS PUBLISHED IN THE CALENDAR WILL BE THOSE SUBMITTED BY CONTEST ENTRANTS.

Voting

Each vote is $1. There is no limit to the number of times a person can vote.
The voting period is from Wednesday 8/31/2022 10:00 AM through Saturday 9/24/2022 10:00 PM.

Prizes

The Grand Prize winners (2) will be the cat and dog photos with the most votes in their respective categories at the close of the voting period.
In the event of a tie vote in either category or tie between the top cat and dog, the winner will be the cat or dog photo with the earlier entry date.
The Grand Prize is a professional photo session with a photographer in the Minneapolis/St. Paul, MN area. The Grand Prize winners will also receive a copy of the calendar. The Grand Prize winner with the most votes will be on the outside cover and the Grand Prize winner with the second highest vote total will be on the inside cover. Additionally, the two Grand Prize winners will grace the outside and inside cover of the calendar and receive a copy of the calendar. Transportation to and from the photo session is the winner's responsibility.
The First Prize winners (12) will be the next six dogs and six cats with the highest votes. Each of those winning photos will be featured on one month of the 2023 Pet Haven Pin-Ups calendar and the winners will receive a copy of the calendar.
In the event that there is a tie for the 6th place photo in the respective categories, the photo with the earlier entry date will be in the calendar.
Weekly incentive prizes: Each week during the contest's entry period, we will award one prize to the entrant (dog or cat) that receives the most votes during that week. Entrants can win the incentive prize in multiple weeks so encourage your friends to vote for your pet!
All winners will be notified by September 26, 2022. The Grand Prize winners' professional photo sessions will be scheduled based on the photographer's availability.
Any individual who contributes $25 or more through entry fees, voting fees or a combination thereof will receive one copy of the 2023 Pet Haven Pin-Ups calendar. You may also pre-order as many calendars as you want!
