Patchy came into our lives during the January 2013 polar vortex — the kind of cold that takes your breath away the moment you step outside. It was bitter. Relentless. The kind of winter you don’t forget.
And somehow, in the middle of that freezing stretch, Patchy was surviving.
He had been living outside for over a month, sheltering beneath the warm air vents of a house just to feel a trace of heat. The family who lived there had been feeding him, doing what they could, but they weren’t able to bring him inside. They knew he needed more.
That’s when we got the call.
“Would you be interested in another cat?”
In weather like that, there wasn’t much to think about. So off we went to rescue this sweet baby who had already endured more than he ever should have.
From the moment he came home, Patchy showed us exactly who he is: gentle, calm, and impossibly sweet. He doesn’t have a mean bone in his body. Not then, not now. He moves through life with quiet acceptance — adapting to every change, every new sibling, every shift in routine — never complaining, never demanding.
There’s an old soul in him. A softness that feels steady and wise.
