Short feline bio/rescue story
“Who rescued who?” is a phrase that perfectly describes how Joey came to be adopted. After losing a 14 year old canine companion I made a trip to the Humane Society of Wayne County to donate leftover dog food. While there, I visited their cat room where I met Joey. Joey came out of a cat house, jumped onto my shoulder and started licking me. This was only the beginning. Now being empty nesters after thirty-nine years of owning dogs, my husband and I took a trip to the HSWC to see what dogs they had available for adoption. While there we visited the cat room and lo and behold if Joey didn’t come out of his house and jumped on my husband’s shoulder and started licking him. This is where the story of Joey began. Needless to say, we didn’t adopt a dog. I guess you could say Joey adopted us. Joey is not your average cat. He sleeps very little and is always wherever I am. He loves to watch me cook, waits for me while I am in the shower and always brings me a toy and leaves it on the bathmat while I am in the shower. When I come home, he greets me at the door and rolls over for a belly rub. There is never a dull moment with Joey around.

Joey LOVES to play fetch and will play for hours; ironically our 14 year old retriever would never fetch.
