AWLAYour Pet's Story or Bio
Rosie came to the AWLA after she had been found in Northern Virginia. A good citizen tried to care for but quickly realized the piggies are not meant for apartment living, so she was brought to the AWLA where she became our Farm Animal Ambassador and a visitor favorite. Rosie enjoyed her time at the shelter, where she learned to walk on a harness, met school groups, learned soccer and had fun digging holes wherever she wished.
According to City regulations, most properties in Alexandria cannot keep pigs like Rosie or other animals considered livestock, and we thought she might have better luck finding a family of her own in a different area, so last fall, Rosie made her next journey to the Loudoun Country Animal Shelter. We're happy to share that Rosie is now a house piggy, but she has plenty of room to run around outside in her new home with her new family.
The AWLA is an open-access facility, and we take in any animals who come to us from Alexandria, even if their future home might be outside the city. We're happy that Rosie spent part of her journey with us, and our porcine pal hopes that you will vote for her and support more of Alexandria's Animals with your donation!Video Description
