Riley is a rescue. He's a long-haired miniature dachshund; black and cream. Riley was separated from his sister (Cookie) by his previous owner while finding a foster/taker. His owner said that Riley acted as though his heart was broke in two from that moment forward. While we tried to rescue both dogs, the owner gave away Cookie before we could rescue the pair. Upon arrival, Riley was VERY shy. He wouldn't even let us pet him. There was no turning back, Riley had to go with us then. After seeing him, we were determined to get him in the car; one way or another! After setting down a carry-crate and opening the door, he darted inside. It was as if he was saying, "Please take me home!". After a bath and trim, along with a trip to the vet, we found a beautiful dog. We found the end of his tail was missing and he had a crushed trachea. He's also allergic to pretty much everything. But, his heart was made of gold with a forgiving personality. He wasn't the shy dog that we thought, after we got him home. He's patient with his younger brother, loves to be in your lap, well-behaved and very laid-back. I haven't met a person yet that doesn't fall in love at first sight with him. He's undoubtedly stolen our hearts and his fur-brothers!
